How to read these labels. Confirmed — Stated by Blizzard at BlizzCon or in official material. Strong signal — Datamined, or consistent across every previous Classic launch. Usually right. Speculative — Our read. Reasoned, but not fact, and we will say so when it turns out wrong. Unknown — Nobody has said. We are not going to pretend otherwise.
Why Hyjal, and why now
Hyjal has been the most requested unfinished space in vanilla Azeroth for twenty years — a zone that existed on the map, was walled off, and was only opened much later in a different expansion. Putting it in Forever as an endgame zone is the clearest signal of what this release is: the vanilla game finishing the sentences it started.
Forever is set after Warcraft III and before Molten Core, which places it in the window immediately following Archimonde’s destruction. A Hyjal still recovering — with the Wild Gods disturbed by what happened there — is the natural story for that gap.
What it means for your first month
An endgame zone that funnels into a raid is where the level-60 population will live from 4 November until the raid tier opens on 9 December. If you want a gearing plan, it starts here: Hyjal quest rewards and the dungeons that sit alongside it are the pre-raid baseline.
Open questions
Nobody has said whether Hyjal is contested, phased by faction, or reputation-gated. Darkwhisper Gorge in existing lore is a demonic remnant, which hints at a hostile sub-area rather than a quest hub — but that is a reading, not a fact.
