Zephras Isle
Levels 1–12 · Skyborne starting zone
The new level 1–12 starting zone, and the only place in Forever that every Skyborne character begins. Which also makes it the single most contested patch of ground on launch night.

How to read these labels. Confirmed — Stated by Blizzard at BlizzCon or in official material. Strong signal — Datamined, or consistent across every previous Classic launch. Usually right. Speculative — Our read. Reasoned, but not fact, and we will say so when it turns out wrong. Unknown — Nobody has said. We are not going to pretend otherwise.
What the zone is
Zephras Isle is the first genuinely new starting zone Classic has had. It carries the Skyborne story from level 1 to 12: a civilisation built around wind elementals that have now disappeared, leaving crumbling structures and a population split over the response.
Blizzard describes the look as drawing on Skywall — the elemental plane of air — rather than on Teldrassil or Eversong. That matters more than it sounds. A vertical, airy starting zone plays differently from a forest, and vertical zones historically mean more travel time between objectives.
Why it matters on launch night
Every new race in WoW history has produced a starting-zone bottleneck, and Forever concentrates the problem: the Skyborne are the headline feature, they are locked behind a $29.99 purchase, and everyone who paid will want to play one immediately. A paid race also self-selects for the most committed players, who log in at 3pm Pacific rather than after dinner.
The practical response is not to avoid the isle — it is to know which quests are kill-tag races and which are gather or interact objectives, and to do the gather quests during the worst of the crush. We will have that breakdown once the beta opens on 17 September.
Open questions
Whether the Skyborne share the isle across factions or are instanced apart is unclear, and it changes the crowding maths completely. So does whether there is a level 10 exit to a mainland zone or a longer stay on the island.
